JOHN AND MARGRET LETHWAITE
John
Lethwaite of Wigan was born in about 1620. He married Margret.
John was a yeoman farmer in Westhoughton in the parish of
Deane.
Margret died and was buried 14 May 1648 in Deane. Her burial record lists her as the wife of John Lethwaite of Wigan.

John left bequests to his daughter Alice and son Edmond: "Item I give & bequeath unto Alice Horrakes my daughter wife of William Horrakes of Rumbworth the cowe that is at William Horrokes house aforesaid or else if he please to deliver the said cowe to my sonne Edmond Leathwait before shee have a calfe & doe refuse to have her my will & mind is and I give and bequeath unto Alice my said daughter the some of three pounds or the said cowe whether shee pleaseth. Item I give and bequeath unto Edmond Leathwait my sonne all the residue and remainder of my personal esteat. And lastly I nominat and apoint my sonne Edmond Leathwait to be my sole and onely exector hopeing he will see this my last will and testament faithfully executed as I repose trust in him."
Witness to the will were William Rycroft, Robert Lethwait, and Edw. Greene.
John and Margret had the following children:

according to the computation of the Church of
England one thousand sixe hundred sixtie nine I John
Leathwait of Westhoughton in the parish of Deane in
the Countie of Lancaster yeoman being sicke in body
but of goo & sound memory blessed bee God doe
ordayne restitute and make this my last wil &
testament in manner & forme following"
