Elizabeth George was born in about 1675. She married Robert Cowley 19 January 1701 in Crudwell, Wiltshire. No christening record has been found for Elizabeth in Crudwell, but she was mentioned in a will for John George of Crudwell in 1722:

In the name of God Amen I John George of Cheglow in the parrish of Crudwell in the County of Wilts yeoman being of good dsposeing sent & memory paysed be God doe make this my last will & testament in manner & form following, first of all I give & bequeath my pretious & immortall soule into the hands of Almighty God hopeing thorough the meritorious death of Jesus Christ my redeemer to have free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins & transgretions and as to the worldly goods as the Lord have lent me I give & dispose as followeth viz. Item I give unto my Brother William George one shilling. Item I give & bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth the wife of Robert Cowly one shilling. All the rest of my goods & chattels as alsoe my free land & all & singular the rest my household goods & all that is mine I give and bequeath to my loveing wife Ann George whom I make sole heyres & executrix of this my last will & testament revoking all former wills by me hereto made in wittnes wherof I set my hand & seale this seventh day of September in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred thwenty one 1721.

John George of Chedgelow, Elizabeth's brother, died and was buried 10 September 1721 in Crudwell. He had married Ann Pinnock 28 May 1705 in Crudwell. John mentioned another brother, William. William married Esther Scott 1 April 1711 in Crudwell. William died and was buried 30 October 1739 in Crudwell.

Elizabeth, William and John George were not listed in the Crudwell christening records. A search of surrounding parishes provided christening records for Elizabeth, John and William. Rodmarton is a parish just over the county border in Gloucestershire, about three miles from Crudwell.

Rodmarton

William George was christened 6 March 1650 in Rodmarton, Gloucestershire, the son of Robert and Joanna George. He married Mary Sloper 28 July 1679 in Rodmarton.

Margaret was christened 24 June 1601 in Somerford Keynes, Gloucestershire, the daughter of Thomas Washburne. Somerford Keynes is a parish about five miles southeast of Rodmarton.

The parish register for Rodmarton contains a page for 1578 and 1579, then starts in 1605. William was born in about 1600, so his christening would have been on the missing pages. Only one George family was found in the register between 1605 and 1610 - a christening record for Edith George, the daughter of Robert George. It seems likely that this was William's family.

Robert was born in about 1575 of Rodmarton. Robert was a churchwarden in Rodmarton in 1638.

Only one family is recorded in the earliest records for Rodmarton - Richard and Elizabeth George had a son, Edward, christened in 1578. They may be Robert's family.

Richard was born in about 1545 of Rodmarton. He was mentioned in the will of Thomas Kyng in 1568: "I geve to Ryc George his doughter my goddagter one acar of barley in Rodmarton feolde and one sheepe to be payed oute of my wyfes pte."

Elizabeth died and was buried 16 January 1635 in Rodmarton.

One of the first pages of the Rodmarton parish register contains these instructions on how to care for the register book:

"If you would have this book last bee sure to aire it att the fier or in the sunne three or foure times a yeare els it will grow dankishy and rott.
Therefore look to it. It will not bee amise alsoe when you finde itt dankish to wipe over the leaves with a dry woollen cloath. This place is
very much subject to dankishnes. Therefore I say looke to it."
