Gwenhwyvar Llewellyn was born in about 1510, the daughter of Mathew ab Llewellyn of Llanidloes and Arddun verch Llewelyn. Matthew was born in about 1480 of Llanidloes. The pedigree of Matthews of Llanidloes shows Mattew's full name as Matthew ab Llewellyn ab Ieuan ab Maredudd ab Matthew Goch of Arwystll, ab Madog Vychan ab Madog ab Ieuan ab Gruffydd ab Maredudd ab Madog Danwr. This one long patronymic name provides ten generations of his ancestry.

Matthew married Arddun, the daughter of Llewellyn ab Gruffydd of Bettws Cedewain.


Matthew and Arddun had the following children:


1. Richard ab Matthew of Glandulas, who was living in 1546; married Elen, daughter of Rhys ab Ieuan ab David ab Rhys.

Matthew (abt 1480) was the son of Llewelyn ab Ieuan.

Llewelyn (abt 1450) was the son of Ieuan ab Maredudd.

Ieuan (abt 1420) was the son of Maredudd ab Matthew Goch of Arwystili.

Maredudd (abt 1390) was the son of Matthew Goch.

Matthew Goch (abt 1360) was the son of Madog Vychan ab Madog.

Madog Vychan (abt 1330) was the son of Madog ab Ieuan.

Madog (abt 1300) was the son of Ieuan ab Gruffydd.

Ieuan (abt 1270) was the son of Gruffydd ab Maredudd. Ieuan married Annesta, the daughter of Maredudd ab Ieuan ab Madog of Manafon.

Gruffydd (abt 1240) was the son of Maredudd ab Madog Danwr.

Maredudd (abt 1205) was the son of Madog Danwr (abt 1175), who was descended from Tudor Trevor.
"Maredudd, Bydr ei Hosanau, was Lord of Llangurig, and was Lord of Aber Havesp in Cydewain, and Dolfachwen in Arwystli. He married Arddun, daughter of Einion ab Llewelyn ab Meilir Grug, lord of Trefgynon and Westbury, descended from Brochwael Ysgythrog, King of Powys, by who he had issue three sons: 1. Iorwerth; 2. Madog Danwr, was the son of Ieuan ab Maredudd.
"Madog Danwr (Fire-bearer), or as he is called in some MSS, Madog Danwr Trevor, Lord of Llangurig, Aber Havesp, and Dolfachwen. He was a faithful servant, and a commanding officer in the army of Gwenwynwyn, Prince of Powys; and for his services in battle, the prince gave him the whole parish of Llangurig, and many other lands in Llanidloes…Madog was the son of Ieuan ab Maredudd ab Madog ab Gruffudd ab David, sixth son of Cynwrig ab Rhiwallawn, lord of Maelor Gymraef or Bromfield...“Madog Danwr married and had issue three sons: 1. Ieuan was the son of Maredudd ab Madog.

Maredudd was the son of Madog ab Gruffud. He died in 1256.

Madog was the son of Gruffud ab David, and Angharad, daughter of Owain Gwyneed. He married Esyllt. He died in 1236.

Gruffud was the son of David ab Cymrig.

David was the son of Cymrig ab Rhiwallawn.

Cymrig was the son of Rhiwallawn, lord of Maelor Gymraef. Cymrig married Judith, the daughter of Ifor Hen, lord of Rhos. He was slain by Gruffud ab Cynan, in Lleyn, in 1074.

Rhiwwallawn ab Dingad, lord of Maelor Gymraeg and Yr Hob. He married Laetitia, daughter of Cadwaladudr ab Perudur Goch of Mon. He died in 1040.

Dingad, lord of Maelor Gymraeg or Bromfield and Yr Hob, the third son of Tudor Trevor. He married Cicilia, daughter of Severus ab Cadifor Wynwyn, prince of Buallt.

Tudor Trevor. In 907 he married Angharad, the daughter of Hywell Dda, King of Wales. He died in 947, leaving three sons: 1. Goronwy, 2. Lluddoccar, and 3. Dingad, and two daughters: 1. Arddun, and 2. Rhiengar.
